Success with two kids on this one!
I purchased this when my little girl was just over 2 yrs old, and within two days of using it she was potty trained! She just LOVED to make the music play, and it was wonderfully easy to clean up.
I pulled it out when my son was 2 1/2 yrs old, and he also trained within a few days. He got a real kick out of making the music play, and we never had any problems with spilling etc. Perhaps those who had trouble forgot to use the little additional part to be added on for boys?
We now have a third to train, and I have purchased another Royal Step Stool Potty for him to use. I know he's going to have as much fun as his siblings did.

Royal Throne...Way Better Than Expected!!
I love this potty! What a way to encourage potty training when you pee pee the music goes on by sensor telling baby he/she did a great job, litteraly. Nothing like my first had, and besides the music reward, the seat can be put on the big potty when it's time and the rest is used as a step stool to get up to the big pot. Super happy with this and totally recommend it to ease potty training!!! LOVE

Great tool, a bit of room for improvement
We've been potty-training for a while just using the potty seats that sit on the regular toilet, but wanted to give our son more control and a sense of ownership over the whole process. We got one of these potties last night, and absolutely love it - spent 45 minutes drinking water and going potty (I had to refuse more water and more potty time, it was past time for bath and bed!) He loves the music playing when he uses it, he gets so excited and has the biggest grin.
The room for improvement: first of all, the music plays when the "product" moves around when you go to dump it - reward for no work. I'd say once it's played once it needs to not play until being reset by being emptied. Second, we're having the same problem other people mentioned with the guard - far too easy for it to flip down when he sits down, and not big enough to stop anything if he leans back a little bit. He's old enough to understand pushing the guard up before he uses the potty, but it is one more thing to deal with. On the other hand, we spent 45 minutes going potty after him refusing to have much to do with any potty-training over the last couple weeks. On the whole, well worth the $20, I would definitely recommend this - I'm sure it would have varying levels of effectiveness (every kid is different) but has given us the jump-start we needed to get back on the potty.

BAD potty chair for boys MAKES A BIG MESS ON THE FLOOR
My son is 22 months and this potty chair was nothing but trouble. Everytime he sat down the splash guard caught between his legs and folded down inside the potty chair. When I was with him I could fix if for him but when he tried by himself (yahoo)the guard fliped down and urine went all over the floor. WHAT A MESS. VERY VERY VERY bad design for little boys.
